Reading Room Entry

“Come Out Singing” is a seldom seen live concert from mid 1970s capturing the spirit and talent of 4 artists who became Women ‘s Music icons. Meg Christian, Cris Williamson, Margie Adam, and Holly Near. Their songs celebrate women’s lives, lesbian feminism, and newly discovered confidence with delightful harmonies. This Lynn Lipman production for KCET (and a California tour that followed) helped put what became known as Women’s Music on the map.

As of 2022, “Come Out Singing” is only available to view in person at GBH, the Library of Congress, and the Walter J. Brown Media Archives & Peabody Awards Collection at the University of Georgia (Athens, Georgia) due to copyright restrictions. For information about access, please contact archive_requests@wgbh.org
